What employers look for

Hiring managers skim for the stack first, then look for evidence of impact: what you built, how many people used it, what got faster, cheaper or more reliable. Many tech employers screen with an applicant tracking system, so the plain ATS version matters here.

Sections to include

Profile: level, area (backend, frontend, data, platform) and 1 or 2 highlights
Tech stack: languages, frameworks, cloud and databases, grouped
Experience: impact bullets, each with a result
Projects: side projects or open source with links
Education: degree, bootcamp or self-taught path
Links: GitHub and portfolio in the contact block

An example bullet point

Rebuilt the checkout service in Go, cutting p95 latency from 900ms to 180ms and failed payments by 30%.

Start with an action verb, say what you did, and finish with a result or number.

Tips

Start bullets with a verb and end with a number.
Group the stack so it is easy to scan, not one long comma list.
Link to code you are happy for someone to read.
Send the ATS version to online application forms.
